art

A progressive page on which I'll update upon creation.

My Art. My creations. My world. This page is dedicated to my own physical artworks and a few special pictures. Of course, the photography and writing on my main page is considered art as well. The photography in terms of their concept and visual framing and the writing in terms of linguistical creation. Its all original, all unique and all straight from my own head, heart and hand.

I consider art to be powerful as it is an expression of the inner self, converted to a more tangible product. But the true power derives from the affect this art has on others. People say, 'oh I can't do art,' 'I don't understand art', 'I'm not very good at criticising art' but I think instead they are simply not ready to open up their mind to what is before them. Not every piece strikes up a response in a person, but hopefully a couple on here do for you. Enjoy, no matter how little or much you can take from art.

Year 12 Art

News is News (July, 2009)
Approx. 140cm x 90cm
Charcoal, cardboard, thick rope, acrylic, maginifying glass, tape, nails, wood on wooden board
News is... well its just news.

Rocket Park (August, 2009)
Approx. 120cm x 100cm
Acrylic, hessian, metal letterbox, rice paper on wooden board
Ah the rocket park! A childhood inspired piece of the house and park I grew up in.

Clubbing. Drinking. Dancing. Partying. Glamour. Classy natural glamour amongst all of it on the rare occassion.

Candy Girl (August, 2009)
Approx. 160cm x 70cm
Posters, Acrylic, Charcoal, PVC Glue, Impasto, Block printing ink on an old tabletop.
What you haven't seen is the layer between this and the one before when I supremely stuffed up. I recovered it though to make it much more powerful.

The first final layer - all the groundwork had been done with the wallpaper, block printing ink etc and so I painted on the figure in stages.

I love texture. In case you hadn't noticed. The charcoal worked out really well and just brought it to life.
Lunar Girl (August, 2009)
Approx. 160cm x 70cm
Wallpaper, charcoal, acrylic, impasto, block printing ink, PVC glue on old tabletop
Voila. One of my favourite works. Inpsired by my little sister jumping in puddles, the piece went a bit darker with the aid of the charcoal and the faceless figure. This work frights me when I catch it in the corner of my eye. Hope you like it.

The Crows (July, 2009)
Approx. 110cm x 50cm
Pages from childrens book, acrylic, charcoal, PVC glue on wooden board
A well planned piece. A piece in which I turned a childrens book into a horror story. 'The birds were singing merrily' no long once I got a hold of this page and phrase, no no, 'the crows were singing terrifyingly.'
#12 (July, 2009)
Approx. 110cm x 50cm
Nails, wood block, acrylic on wooden board
A number. 12. A nice number. But just a number. As everything is just as it is and no more. A purely gestural piece in which the purety of colour and the vibrancy of life are conveyed.

Train Set (October, 2009)
Approx. 160cm x 70cm
Acrylic, wall paper, charcoal, block printing ink on old tabletop
Didn't we all have a train set when we were little? Well I certainly did and loved it. Apologies for the photo, I had to snap it quickly at the exhibition as I only finished it the day before. A fun, child like drawn painting.
